Bio
Dr. Sandra M. Athanasios is a licensed clinical psychologist. Her academic background includes a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from The Wright Institute in Berkeley, California, and a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California.
Dr. Athanasios holds 10 years of experience working across a variety of settings, including hospitals, community mental health clinics, schools, crisis support lines, and substance abuse clinics, providing support and assistance to children, adolescents, and adults experiencing many different challenges. As a member of Therapy Partners of the Peninsula in Burlingame, California, Dr. Athanasios offers various therapeutic interventions to those struggling with problems related to interpersonal difficulties, trauma, and more. Dr. Athanasios provides individual therapy, psychodiagnostic assessment, and neurofeedback to support clients in finding meaningful change and personal growth in their lives.
In her role as Clinical Supervisor, Dr. Athanasios oversees doctorate-level students who provide psychodiagnostic assessment, group therapy, and individual therapy at psychiatric hospitals and residential mental health facilities serving adolescents and adults with psychiatric conditions and dual diagnoses. She also provides psychodiagnostic assessment for children, adolescents, and adults with neurodevelopmental disorders, traumatic brain injuries, trauma, and dual diagnoses who are seeking SSI benefits and support.
Dr. Athanasios seeks to create a safe and collaborative space for clients to explore life’s challenges and process difficulties through evidence-based practices and a trauma-informed and relationally focused lens.
